New Taxi Fare Announced in Dubai
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has shared a new Dubai taxi fare update. From now on, the minimum fare for e-hailing taxis is AED 13. Earlier, riders paid AED 12 for short trips. This new fare applies when you book taxis through mobile apps. The RTA wants to make fares fairer and match the rising cost of operations.
This update affects only app-based bookings, not taxis you stop on the street. The change began this week and will help drivers cover higher running costs.
How the New Fare Works
The Dubai taxi fare update includes new flagfall and booking fees. These charges depend on the time of day. Peak and night hours cost slightly more, while off-peak hours stay cheaper. During peak hours (Monday–Thursday) from 8 a.m. to 9:59 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7:59 p.m., the flagfall charge is AED 5, and the booking fee is AED 7.50. For off-peak hours, the flagfall stays at AED 5, but the booking fee drops to AED 4. At night (Monday–Thursday), from 10 p.m. onward, the flagfall rises slightly to AED 5.50, and the booking fee becomes AED 4.50. On weekends, the system changes a little. Between 4 p.m. and 9:59 p.m., the flagfall is AED 5. Later, from 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., the flagfall goes to AED 5.50.

What It Means for Riders
For riders, this Dubai taxi fare update means planning trips smarter. Even for short rides, the minimum fare is AED 13. Booking time also affects the total cost. If you ride during rush hours, expect to pay a bit more. For people who travel often, checking fare details before confirming a ride can help save money. Many ride apps show the exact fare estimate before booking. If your trip is very short, you’ll still pay AED 13. That is the new minimum rate for all app-booked taxis in Dubai.
Why the RTA Made the Change
The RTA said the change helps balance prices for both riders and drivers. It keeps fares stable while supporting service quality. With Dubai’s growing demand for taxis, this update ensures smoother operations and better service reliability.
Smart Travel Tips
