Abu Dhabi Launches Maternity Leave Support for Emirati Women
Abu Dhabi has introduced a new Maternity Leave Support program for Emirati women working in private sector jobs. The initiative helps mothers balance work and family while providing financial aid. The Department of Community Development (DCD) leads this program as part of its efforts to strengthen family support across the city.
What the Program Offers
The Maternity Leave Support program allows Emirati women to take up to 90 days of paid leave. The government provides salary aid during this time. This support ensures mothers can focus on newborn care without worrying about income. Additionally, the program covers family care services to help parents manage responsibilities at home.
The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA) oversees the program. They make sure eligible women receive financial support quickly. Mothers can also get help with pension contributions if they choose to extend unpaid leave. The program may provide up to AED 15,000 per month for qualifying applicants.
Who Can Apply
To access Maternity Leave Support, applicants must meet a few simple conditions. Both the mother and father must hold an Abu Dhabi Family Book. The mother must work in the private sector. Also, the newborn should have an Emirates ID. Applicants need to submit requests through the TAMM app or platform within 30 days of the child’s birth.
The program is optional for private employers. However, employers must give a no-objection certificate for mothers to take 90 days leave. DCD encourages private companies to participate to support Emirati families.
Extra Support for New Parents
Besides salary aid, the program offers home visit services. These visits give new parents practical guidance and emotional support. The Early Childhood Authority collaborates with DCD to provide this service. Mothers receive tips for baby care, family bonding, and adjusting to new roles. These visits aim to make the transition into parenthood smoother.
Why It Matters
The new Maternity Leave Support program shows Abu Dhabi’s commitment to family well-being. It reduces financial stress and allows mothers to spend quality time with their newborns. The initiative also promotes gender equality by supporting women in the workplace.
With this program, Emirati mothers in private sector jobs can enjoy 90 days of paid leave. They also gain access to family care support and home visits. Overall, the initiative strengthens families and ensures parents have the help they need.
How to Apply
Eligible women can apply through the TAMM platform. They should submit their application within 30 days after birth. Early application ensures timely access to Maternity Leave Support benefits.
