Record Profits and Growth in 2023-2024
Emirates Airlines continues to soar, reporting its highest-ever annual profit for the 2023-2024 financial year. The Dubai-based carrier posted a record AED 17.2 billion (US$ 4.7 billion) in profit, marking a remarkable 63% increase from the previous year. This growth highlights strong passenger demand and the airline’s ability to scale operations efficiently. Total revenue rose by 13% to AED 121.2 billion (US$ 33.0 billion), reinforcing the company’s solid financial position.
Passenger Numbers and Fleet Expansion
The airline carried 51.9 million passengers during the year, a strong indicator of global travel recovery. Emirates Airlines also expanded its seat capacity by 21%, meeting rising demand across its international network. The airline’s focus on operational excellence and customer experience contributed to this continued growth.
In addition, Emirates Airlines is preparing for major fleet upgrades. From the second quarter of 2025, it will start receiving new Boeing aircraft. The order includes 55 Boeing 777-9s and 35 Boeing 777-8s. With this delivery, the total Boeing 777-X order will reach 205 aircraft, supporting Emirates Airlines’ long-term expansion plans.

Strong Cash Reserves and IPO Prospects
Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum recently confirmed the airline’s financial strength. Emirates Airlines now holds a record-high cash balance of AED 47.1 billion (US$ 12.8 billion). Speaking at the Arab Travel Market in Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed said the airline is currently “satisfied” with its cash reserves.
As for a potential IPO, Sheikh Ahmed clarified that the decision rests with the UAE government. Emirates Airlines remains ready but will only proceed if the government mandates it. “We are a government-owned entity. Any IPO decision lies with the leadership,” he stated.

With robust financials, expanding operations, and upcoming fleet deliveries, Emirates Airlines expects another record-breaking year in 2024-2025. The airline plans to continue investing in customer service and innovation, ensuring it remains a leader in global aviation.
