Airlines Suspend Flights Due to Israel-Iran Tensions: What Travelers Need to Know

Tensions between Israel and Iran have caused major flight disruptions. As a result, several airlines from the UAE have suspended routes across the region. These changes affect thousands of passengers traveling to or through the Middle East.

UAE Airlines Suspend Flights to Key Cities

Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, and Air Arabia have all made changes. They’ve either canceled or changed flight paths due to closed airspace over Israel, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Syria.

Emirates has stopped flying to Tehran, Baghdad, and Basra until June 30. It also paused flights to Amman, Beirut, and Tel Aviv until June 22. Etihad Airways canceled flights to Tel Aviv until June 22. It is now using longer routes to avoid dangerous airspace.

Flydubai and Air Arabia Also Cut Flights

flydubai paused services to Iran, Iraq, Israel, and Syria until June 20. However, it will restart flights to Jordan and Lebanon on June 17 during the day only.

Air Arabia took the biggest step. It suspended all flights to Iran and Iraq until June 30. It also stopped flying to Lebanon, Jordan, and Russia until later in June.

Why Airlines Suspend Flights Now

This decision comes after several countries shut down their airspace. Airlines now have to fly longer routes over safer areas like Saudi Arabia and Central Asia.

The UAE’s government is also asking people to stay safe. They recommend registering with the Twajudi system for updates and alerts.

What You Should Do

If you have a flight booked, check your airline’s website. Do not go to the airport unless your flight is confirmed. Call customer service for refund or rebooking options. Expect delays on other flights as well. Routes are now longer, and airspace is more crowded. Airlines suspend flights to protect passengers and crew. Safety comes first in this time of tension.
