UAE’s First Flying Taxi Set for Trial Launch in Al Ain This Summer
Trials Begin in Al Ain This Summer
UAE’s first flying taxi will begin trials in Al Ain by the third quarter of 2025. Archer Aviation has worked closely with the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) for years. GCAA approved the design of a hybrid heliport at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal for eVTOL operations. Initial test flights in Al Ain will be remote, followed by piloted operations in Abu Dhabi.
Public Launch by Year-End
Archer aims to launch UAE’s first flying taxi service in Abu Dhabi by late 2025. CEO Adam Goldstein confirmed the plans during the Make it in the Emirates event in Abu Dhabi. The company will showcase its Midnight flying taxi model at the Adnec Centre exhibition. Archer plans to scale operations after initial trials in select areas of Abu Dhabi.
Affordable and Convenient Travel
Flying taxi fares will match high-end rideshare prices, according to Archer’s CEO. A 2-3 hour road trip between Abu Dhabi and Dubai will drop to 15-20 minutes. Users can book flights through Archer’s app or the app of its local UAE partner. Abu Dhabi Aviation will likely manage pricing based on supply-demand dynamics.
Manufacturing and Assembly in the UAE
Archer will begin assembling flying taxis in the UAE later this year. The company plans low-scale initial assembly, followed by full-scale manufacturing in Abu Dhabi. UAE’s trade network supports plans to export flying taxis globally from the region. Archer aims to create jobs and a full aviation ecosystem in Abu Dhabi.
Vision for Aviation Innovation
Archer sees Abu Dhabi as a future aviation hub like Seattle or Toulouse. The company wants to build, test, and export innovative aircraft from the UAE. This initiative will place UAE at the forefront of next-generation air mobility technology. UAE’s first flying taxi marks a major leap in regional and global transport innovation.
