Who Can Benefit from the ILOE Scheme?
To qualify for this job loss insurance, employees must meet specific conditions:
1. Work Experience Requirement
Workers must have been employed for at least 12 consecutive months before losing their job.
2. Subscription to the Scheme
Employees need to enroll in the ILOE plan and pay their insurance premiums on time.
3. Involuntary Job Loss
The scheme applies only to workers who lost their jobs due to external reasons, not resignation or disciplinary actions.
4. Timely Claim Submission
Employees must apply for compensation within 30 days after losing their job.
Subscription and Payment Options
The ILOE scheme categorizes employees into two groups based on their salary:
- Category A: Employees earning AED 16,000 or less pay AED 5 per month (AED 60 per year).
- Category B: Employees earning more than AED 16,000 pay AED 10 per month (AED 120 per year).
Workers can choose to pay their premiums monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annually for added convenience.
Compensation and Financial Support
Eligible employees receive 60% of their average basic salary for up to three months after job loss. Compensation is capped as follows:
- Category A: Up to AED 10,000 per month.
- Category B: Up to AED 20,000 per month.
This financial aid helps unemployed individuals manage their expenses while looking for new job opportunities.
Who is Exempt from the ILOE Scheme?
Some workers do not need to enroll in this insurance, including:
- Business owners and investors.
- Domestic workers.
- Employees under short-term contracts.
- Workers under 18 years old.
- Retired individuals who have started a new job.
Recent Updates and Penalties for Non-Compliance
As of December 2023, the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced that employees who fail to subscribe to the ILOE scheme will face penalties. Workers are encouraged to register as soon as possible to avoid fines and secure their financial protection.
This initiative highlights the UAE’s commitment to employee welfare, ensuring job security and stability for the workforce.
