Toyota Plans to Build Lexus EV Factory in Shanghai

Toyota, the world’s top-selling carmaker, plans to build a factory in Shanghai to produce electric vehicles (EVs) for its luxury Lexus brand. This factory is expected to start operations around 2027. Toyota aims to run this factory without a local partner, making it the first Japanese carmaker to set up such a plant in China.
