Perplexity has made its AI-powered Comet browser available for free to everyone worldwide. Previously, it was exclusive to subscribers of the $200/month Max plan. This move positions Comet as a direct competitor to established browsers like Google Chrome and emerging AI-driven alternatives such as Dia and Opera’s Neon.
What Is the Comet Browser?
Comet is an AI-powered web browser designed to assist users with various online tasks. It features a sidecar assistant that helps summarize content, answer questions, and manage web navigation. Additionally, it offers tools like Discover for personalized news, Spaces for project organization, Shopping for price comparisons, Travel for itinerary planning, Finance for budgeting, and Sports for live updates.

While the free version offers essential features, Max subscribers gain access to advanced capabilities. These include:
