Mall of Emirates Launches Dh5B Expansion to Mark 20th Anniversary

Massive Expansion Underway

Mall of Emirates celebrates its 20th anniversary with a Dh5 billion transformation project. The expansion adds 100 new stores, a theatre, new dining precincts, and entertainment spaces. Majid Al Futtaim began construction and has already spent Dh1.1 billion on the project. The expansion aligns with the 2030 vision to build a “Mall of New Possibilities.”

New Theatre and Dining Spaces

The New Covent Garden theatre opens in mid-2025 with a 600-seat capacity and rehearsal rooms. The first outdoor F&B courtyard opens in early 2027 with year-round indoor-outdoor dining options. Visitors can enjoy dining in a green oasis during the cooler winter months. The indoor-outdoor precinct will combine fast-casual dining and interactive entertainment.

Enhanced Entertainment and Lifestyle Offerings

By late 2026, four new entertainment zones will launch across the mall. VOX Cinemas introduces the world’s most advanced IMAX experience for moviegoers. The West End district gets a full revamp with modern design and social spaces. This area transforms into a vibrant hub for relaxation and community events.

Focus on Experience and Wellness

Mall of Emirates focuses on lifestyle, culture, and wellness beyond traditional shopping experiences. Research shows visitors want culture, experiences, and convenience—not just retail. The new precincts  deliver exactly that through immersive, multi-sensory attractions and services. Guests will soon notice the changes as the mall transforms rapidly.

Majid Al Futtaim’s Vision for the Future

CEO Khalifa Bin Braik calls the expansion a bold step in mall innovation. The goal is  to offer spaces for connection, creativity, and unforgettable experiences. Mall of Emirates redefines what a mall can offer to modern shoppers. Majid Al Futtaim owns 29 malls, seven hotels, and five mixed-use communities worldwide. The group serves over 600 million customers and employs more than 43,000 people.

Conclusion

Mall of Emirates sets a new benchmark in retail, lifestyle, and entertainment in the region. Its transformation reflects Dubai’s commitment to innovation, experience, and world-class infrastructure.
