Lukoil Asia Chief Estella Shi Joins BGN to Lead Dubai Oil Trading
Veteran Trader Departs Lukoil for BGN
Estella Shi, Managing Director of Lukoil Asia Pacific, will join Turkish energy trader BGN in June. Shi confirmed the move and will serve as Chief Commercial Officer, leading BGN’s oil trading in Dubai.
She brings nearly 30 years of trading experience to the role.
Shi’s Extensive Industry Experience
Shi started her career at a trading arm of COSCO, the Chinese shipping giant. She later worked at China Aviation Oil, Chevron, and European trading house Mercuria. In 2020, Shi became head of Lukoil Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Litasco Middle East DMCC.
A Prominent Female Leader in Oil Trading
A Singapore national, Shi is based in Asia’s key oil trading hub. She stands out as one of few senior female leaders in the Asian oil trading sector.
BGN Expands Leadership with Lukoil Veteran
Shi joins BGN’s growing leadership team in Dubai, following former Lukoil colleague Wael Amer. Amer became Chief Operating Officer at BGN in January, also based in Dubai. Both hires strengthen BGN’s leadership as it grows its global trading footprint.
BGN’s Global Operations and Trade Volumes
BGN trades 50 million metric tons of commodities every year. The company reports a double-digit billion-dollar turnover on its website. It operates in Dubai, Geneva, London, Houston, Rotterdam, and Singapore.
Focus on LPG and Chemical Trading
BGN has a strong reputation for trading liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and chemicals. It manages a supply chain spanning Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, and Africa.
No Comments from Lukoil or BGN
BGN and Lukoil did not respond to requests for comment. Reuters could not reach Litasco Middle East by phone or email for a statement.
Conclusion
Shi’s move marks a major shift for both Lukoil and BGN. Her appointment signals BGN’s intent to strengthen its trading operations in Dubai.
