Dubai has launched the ‘United in Giving’ initiative to help those in need and reduce food waste during Ramadan. This effort, led by the UAE Food Bank, aims to provide 100,000 meals daily to underprivileged people. The initiative brings together government organizations, private companies, and volunteers to make a positive impact during the holy month.

‘United in Giving’ Feeding Thousands Every Day

The UAE Food Bank, in partnership with Majid Al Futtaim, is distributing meals across various locations in Dubai. Around 3,300 individuals will receive free meals daily throughout Ramadan. This ensures that thousands of people, including low-income workers and struggling families, have access to nutritious food.

A Growing Humanitarian Effort

The UAE Food Bank has been expanding its reach every year. In 2024, its food aid programs helped 28.9 million people worldwide, 55% more than the previous year. This year, ‘United in Giving’ aims to make an even bigger difference by increasing meal distribution and minimizing food wastage.

Using Technology to Reduce Food Waste

The initiative is also focused on sustainability. The UAE Food Bank is using artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to track food supply and demand. This helps distribute surplus food efficiently, ensuring less food goes to waste while feeding more people in need.

‘United in Giving’ Encouraging Community Participation

Volunteers play a big role in ‘United in Giving’ by collecting, packing, and distributing food. The initiative encourages individuals and businesses to donate food, funds, or their time to support the cause. This teamwork strengthens the spirit of giving and unity, which is the essence of Ramadan.

A Model for the Region

Dubai is setting an example for the region with ‘United in Giving’ by addressing food insecurity while promoting sustainability. The initiative not only helps the less fortunate but also raises awareness about food waste. Through these efforts, Dubai continues to uphold its humanitarian values, making a lasting impact on the community.
