Dubai Unpaid Parking: Dh150 Fine for Delayed Payments at Barrierless Malls
Dubai has introduced a Dh150 fine for unpaid parking at three major malls. The fine applies if payment is not made within three days of leaving the mall. The new barrierless parking system has already rolled out at City Centre Deira. Mall of the Emirates (MOE) will follow suit in February.
How Barrierless Parking Works
The new parking system eliminates barriers at the entrance and exit. Cameras automatically track vehicle license plates. After a car enters or exits, drivers receive an SMS with a payment link. Payments must be made within three days to avoid fines. Drivers who don’t pay in time will get an SMS reminder and a call.
Dh1,000 Fine for Improper Parking
The system includes strict rules against improper parking. A Dh1,000 fine applies for parking without a valid permit. Mall officials stress that proper parking is essential to avoid hefty fines.
MOE and City Centre Deira Parking Details
Parking at City Centre Deira remains free for the first three hours. Parking at MOE is free for the first four hours. If shoppers exceed free parking time, they can validate their ticket to waive fees. Shoppers who spend Dh150 at MOE enjoy additional free parking hours.
No Increase in Parking Fees
Majid Al Futtaim confirmed that parking fees will not increase. The barrierless parking system aims to improve convenience, not add costs. The free parking times will remain the same as before the new system.
Parking Charges at Dubai Malls
City Centre Deira and Mall of the Emirates offer parking for varying rates beyond free periods. City Centre Deira charges Dh20 for the fourth hour, Dh40 for the fifth, and so on. At MOE, the price starts at Dh20 for the fourth hour and increases to Dh150 for longer durations.
Easy Payments with Advanced Technology
The barrierless system uses advanced license plate recognition technology. Shoppers can easily link their accounts to Parkin’s wallet for faster payments. This seamless system improves the parking experience across all three malls.
Overnight Parking Ban
Overnight parking is prohibited between 6 a.m. and 6 a.m. The fine for this violation is Dh200.
