Dubai: UAE Exchange Metro Station Renamed to Life Pharmacy Metro Station

Dubai RTA Announces New Station Name

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has renamed the UAE Exchange Metro Station. The Dubai stations now bear the name Life Pharmacy Metro Station under a 10-year naming rights agreement.
Life Pharmacy secured this naming deal with RTA, in partnership with Hypermedia and Mada Media.

Strategic Location of the Station

This Metro station lies in Jebel Ali, along the Red Line of the Dubai Metro. It originally opened as Jebel Ali Metro Station in March 2011. In June 2015, RTA renamed it to UAE Exchange Metro Station after a naming agreement. The station serves many residents and employees of the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA).

Unique Features of the Station

Dubai Metro’s Life Pharmacy Station is the only ground-level station in the network. All other Metro stations are either underground or elevated. It plays a crucial role in connecting industrial and commercial hubs in the area.

Dubai RTA Improves Metro Operations

In April 2024, RTA introduced a new operational model using a Y junction at the station. Trains now run directly between Centrepoint and UAE Exchange without requiring transfers at Jebel Ali. This change has improved commuting for passengers on both the Expo 2020 and UAE Exchange routes.

Signage and System Updates Underway

Dubai RTA will update all directional signs by the end of August. This includes external signs, internal station signs, and onboard announcements. RTA will also update public transport apps and digital systems with the new station name.

More Metro Renaming in Dubai

This renaming marks the third such change by RTA in two months. Al Khail Station became Al Fardan Exchange Station in March. GGICO Station was renamed Al Metro Garhoud Station in April.

Dubai Leads with Metro Naming Rights

RTA launched the naming rights initiative in 2009, the world’s first of its kind. RTA’s Rail Agency CEO, Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Kalbat, praised the partnership with Life Pharmacy. He called it a valuable addition to Dubai’s Metro branding success story.
