Abu Dhabi is building something truly unique — The world’s first AI cognitive city, Aion Sentia. Set to open by 2027, this smart city will use artificial intelligence to understand, learn, and adapt to the people living in it. Unlike regular smart cities, Aion Sentia will think for itself and grow smarter over time.
What Makes Aion Sentia So Special?
Aion Sentia isn’t just full of smart gadgets. It will use AI to manage everything — traffic, homes, safety, and even energy. Imagine a city that knows your habits and helps you daily. For example, the city could lower your lights to save energy or guide traffic to avoid delays.
Residents will use an app called MAIA to connect with city services. It will help people with things like booking transport, getting local updates, and managing their homes. All of this happens in real time, thanks to powerful AI systems.

Who Is Building It?
Two tech companies, Bold Technologies from the UAE and Synapsia from Italy, are working together. They’re investing $2.5 billion in this big project. They plan to create a company called My Aion Inc. This company may even be listed on Abu Dhabi’s stock market between 2027 and 2029.
Why Abu Dhabi?
Abu Dhabi wants to lead the world in using AI. The city has already set aside $3.5 billion to turn its government fully AI-powered by 2027. This move is part of the Government Digital Strategy 2025–2027. Officials expect this to boost the economy by $6.5 billion and create 5,000 new jobs.
What Can We Expect?
Aion Sentia will be more than a place to live. It will be a living system that reacts to its residents. The world’s first AI cognitive city will not only offer comfort but also care about people’s needs.
In short, Abu Dhabi is not just building a smart city — it’s building the future. Aion Sentia will set a new standard for how cities can work with and for their people.
