Flights Between UAE and India Hit by Disruptions
Travelers flying between the UAE and India are experiencing major delays. Pakistan recently closed its airspace to Indian airlines. This sudden move has caused massive UAE-India Flights rerouting, making journeys longer and more expensive for airlines.
Airlines Forced to Reroute Flights
Air India and IndiGo are among the carriers most affected. Flights that usually pass through Pakistan now have to take longer routes. For example, Air India’s flights from San Francisco and Toronto were diverted to Copenhagen. Flights from London and Paris had to stop in Abu Dhabi instead. Because of this, many UAE-India flights are seeing delays of up to 10 hours.
IndiGo Cancels Some Routes
IndiGo, India’s biggest airline, also faces trouble. It has changed nearly 50 flight routes and canceled services to cities like Almaty and Tashkent. The airline apologized to passengers and promised to keep everyone updated. Both Air India and IndiGo said these changes were unavoidable.
Heavy Losses for Indian Airlines
The airspace closure will continue until at least May 23. In April alone, about 1,200 UAE-India flights could be impacted. Indian airlines are suffering big financial losses. Air India alone is losing more than ₹200 million every day because of the longer flight paths.

Political Tensions Behind the Disruption
This problem started after a deadly terrorist attack in Kashmir. India and Pakistan have since taken tough actions against each other. India canceled Pakistani visas and suspended an important water-sharing treaty. In response, Pakistan expelled Indian diplomats and closed its airspace.

If you are traveling on UAE-India flights, check with your airline regularly. Airlines are offering flexible rebooking options, but travelers should stay alert for updates. It’s best to plan for longer travel times until the situation improves.
