UAE Named Happiest Arab Country, Surpasses UK, US, and France in Global Rankings
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially been recognized as the happiest Arab country in the 2025 World Happiness Report. The country ranked 21st globally, ahead of the United Kingdom (23rd), the United States (24th), and France (33rd). This achievement highlights the UAE’s steady progress in improving the quality of life for its residents.
What Is the World Happiness Report?
The World Happiness Report is an annual study conducted by the Wellbeing Research Centre at Oxford University, in collaboration with Gallup and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. It evaluates 147 countries based on various factors like income levels, healthcare, social support, freedom, and generosity. Data from 2022 to 2024 shaped the 2025 rankings.
Global and Arab Rankings
Finland secured the top spot as the world’s happiest country for the eighth consecutive year. Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and the Netherlands followed closely. Mexico and Costa Rica also entered the top ten for the first time.
In the Arab world, the UAE remains the happiest Arab country, leading the regional rankings. Kuwait ranked 30th globally, Saudi Arabia followed at 32nd, Oman took the 52nd spot, and Bahrain came in at 59th.
