Dubai Metro’s Al Khail Metro Station Renamed to Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially renamed Al Khail Metro Station to Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station. This name change, effective from March 18, 2025, is part of RTA’s strategy to collaborate with private businesses and strengthen public-private partnerships.
Why the Name Change?
Al Fardan Exchange, a well-known financial services company in the UAE, has secured the naming rights for the metro station. Originally opened as “Nakheel” in 2010, the station was renamed Al Khail Metro Station in 2020. Now, it will be known as Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station under this new agreement.
According to Abdul Muhsen Kalbat, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, renaming metro stations creates branding opportunities for businesses. He explained that the initiative aligns with Dubai’s goal of involving the private sector in urban development.
What Al Fardan Exchange Says
Hasan Fardan Al Fardan, CEO of Al Fardan Exchange, expressed excitement about this partnership. He emphasized that the renaming helps the company connect with daily metro users while strengthening its brand presence in Dubai.
What to Expect
RTA will update all station signs, digital screens, and audio announcements to reflect the new name. These changes will take place between April and June 2025. The updates will ensure passengers see the new name across all metro stations, transport apps, and onboard metro announcements.
How This Affects Metro Users
Daily commuters and visitors should take note of this change. RTA staff will be available at metro stations to assist passengers. The updated name will appear on all maps, online platforms, and digital systems.

Al Khail Metro Station The Bigger Picture
This renaming is part of a broader trend in Dubai, where metro stations receive new names through corporate sponsorships. These partnerships benefit both businesses and the RTA by generating revenue and improving the metro system.
As Dubai continues to grow, more public transport stations may undergo similar name changes. The Al Khail Metro Station renaming is just one example of how Dubai’s metro network is evolving.
