UAE Aviation Introduces New Drone Navigation Rules as Operations Set to Double

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is preparing for a rapid increase in drone operations. Currently, there are 23,960 registered drones across the country. Experts predict this number will double soon. To manage this growth, UAE aviation authorities have introduced new airspace and navigation rules.

New Air Corridors for Drone Transportation

The UAE is working on special air corridors for drones, air taxis, and cargo transport. The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is leading this initiative along with the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC). These corridors will connect airports and key locations, making urban transport more efficient.

By creating these dedicated paths, UAE aviation aims to reduce traffic congestion and support eco-friendly transport solutions. This step is crucial for integrating drone technology into the country’s infrastructure.

Launch of a National Drone Registration Platform

To keep track of drone activities, the GCAA has launched a national platform for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This online system helps users register their drones and understand the rules. It also simplifies procedures by involving all necessary authorities in one place.

Lifting the Personal Drone Ban

The UAE had previously banned personal drones, but this restriction has now been lifted. As a result, more people and businesses are interested in drone operations. Since the change, 93 companies have registered drones, and 270 individuals have applied for permits.

UAE Aviation Commitment to Safe Drone Operations

The UAE is taking a proactive approach to drone regulations. By setting clear rules and establishing air corridors, UAE aviation is ensuring safe and efficient drone operations. These efforts will support the country’s vision of becoming a leader in drone technology.

With the growing number of drones, these new regulations will help the UAE balance innovation with safety. By embracing advanced technology, the country is ready to handle the future of drone transportation.
