Strengthening Defense and Security between the UAE and France

Defense cooperation between the UAE and France has grown significantly. In 2009, France opened its first permanent military base in the Persian Gulf, located in Abu Dhabi. This move deepened their strategic relationship. Later, in 2021, the Dubai  signed a massive €17 billion arms deal with France. This agreement included 80 Rafale fighter jets and 12 Airbus combat helicopters, strengthening the UAE’s military capabilities and reinforcing their defense partnership.
