When is Ramadan 2025?
Ramadan 2025 started on the evening of Saturday, March 1, 2025, and will end on Sunday, March 30, 2025. The exact dates may change based on moon sightings in different regions.
Why is Ramadan Important?
Ramadan is the holiest month in Islam. Muslims fast from Fajr (dawn) to Maghrib (sunset) daily. It is a time for prayer, self-reflection, charity, and spiritual growth. The Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during this blessed month.
Rules of Fasting in Ramadan
During Ramadan, Muslims fast by avoiding food, drinks, smoking, and sinful behavior from dawn to sunset. Before Fajr, they start their day with Suhoor (pre-dawn meal), and later, they break their fast with Iftar (sunset meal).
Fasting is mandatory for all healthy adult Muslims; however, certain individuals are exempt. For instance:
- Elderly individuals, as fasting may be physically challenging for them.
- Those who are sick, since fasting could worsen their health.
- Pregnant or nursing women, as they need proper nourishment for themselves and their babies.
- Travelers, because long journeys make fasting more difficult.
Furthermore, those who cannot fast must either make up for missed fasts later or provide food to the less fortunate as compensation.
UAE Ramadan 2025 Prayer Timetable: Special Prayers During Ramadan
Every night during Ramadan, Muslims gather at mosques to perform Taraweeh prayers, which are extra prayers offered exclusively in this holy month. Additionally, the last ten nights hold special significance, especially Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Decree). On this sacred night, prayers bring immense rewards, and Muslims seek forgiveness, blessings, and guidance.
Moreover, many people increase their acts of worship, such as reciting the Quran, giving charity, and performing additional prayers. This period is considered the most spiritually uplifting time of Ramadan.
When is Eid al-Fitr 2025?
After a month of fasting, Ramadan ends with a grand celebration known as Eid al-Fitr, a joyful occasion of gratitude and togetherness. On this special day, Muslims gather for prayers, exchange gifts, and enjoy festive meals with their loved ones. In addition, they give charity to those in need, ensuring that everyone can participate in the celebrations.
Eid is expected on Monday, March 31, 2025; however, the exact date depends on the sighting of the moon. Therefore, Muslims wait for official announcements from religious authorities to confirm the day.
