Strict Immigration Checks Under “Towards a Safer Society”

The UAE has arrested more than 6,000 people for violating visa rules since the amnesty program ended on December 31. Authorities carried out over 270 inspection campaigns in January as part of the “Towards a Safer Society” initiative.

Amnesty Gave Violators a Chance

From September 1 to December 31, the UAE offered an amnesty program. This allowed visa violators to either correct their status or leave without penalties. After the deadline, officials intensified inspections to track down those who remained illegally.

Authorities Continue Inspections

Major-General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), warned that inspections will continue. He urged residents not to ignore visa violations or those who commit them.

Brigadier General Saeed Salem Al Shamsi, Acting Director General of Identity and Foreigners Affairs at ICP, emphasized that multiple government departments are working together. Their goal is to enforce visa laws strictly and ensure security.

Heavy Penalties for Violators and Their Employers

The UAE has strict penalties for visa violations. Anyone helping or housing an illegal resident faces a fine of at least Dh10,000. Employers hiring workers outside their sponsorship must pay Dh50,000 per violation.

Visa violators caught working without proper authorization may be jailed, deported, and permanently banned from re-entering the UAE. Authorities stress that following visa rules is essential to maintaining security and stability.

Towards a Safer Society: Public Urged to Follow Visa Rules

Officials remind residents to follow visa regulations and report violations. The “Towards a Safer Society” campaign aims to create a secure environment for everyone.

Authorities will keep conducting inspections to ensure compliance with immigration laws. By working together, residents and officials can help build a safer and law-abiding community.
