Fuel Rates in February 2025: UAE Announces Price Hike

The UAE has announced new fuel rates in February 2025, increasing petrol and diesel prices. After two months of stability, fuel costs are now rising. The new prices will take effect on February 1, 2025.

New Fuel Prices for February 2025

The latest fuel rates in February are as follows:

  • Super 98 petrol: AED 2.74 per litre (up from AED 2.61 in January)
  • Special 95 petrol: AED 2.63 per litre (previously AED 2.50)
  • E-Plus 91 petrol: AED 2.55 per litre (increased from AED 2.43)
  • Diesel: AED 2.82 per litre (rising from AED 2.68)

These increases mark the first hike after fuel prices remained unchanged in December 2024 and January 2025.

Why Are Fuel Prices Rising?

The UAE adjusts fuel prices monthly based on global oil market trends. Since 2015, fuel prices have been deregulated, ensuring transparency and economic stability.

The recent price hike is due to rising global oil prices. OPEC+ has extended production cuts, and there is less oil supply from Russia and Iran. For instance, Saudi Aramco raised its crude oil selling price by 60 cents per barrel in February. This increase has affected fuel costs worldwide.

Impact on UAE Motorists

With the new fuel rates in February, drivers will spend more at fuel stations. For example, refueling a 51-litre tank with Super 98 petrol will now cost AED 139.74, up from AED 133.11 in January. This means motorists will pay about AED 6.63 more per tank.

The UAE government continues to review and adjust fuel prices based on market trends. While the recent hike may impact household budgets, it ensures local prices align with international rates. Consumers should plan their fuel expenses accordingly, as future prices may fluctuate based on global factors.
